About Us…
History
Home-Start Worthing and Adur started supporting families in September 2001 and in December 2009 became an incorporated company limited by guarantee.
Our Scheme is managed by a number of Trustees, made up of local people who are keen to see families effectively supported. They come from a variety of backgrounds, both professional and non-professional and use their range of skills to lead in the vision and planning for the scheme. All of our Trustees are volunteers.
Core Belief
Home-Start Worthing and Adur believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life, helping them achieve their full potential.
Our Mission
We offer free, confidential and non-judgemental support, helping families with at least one child under the age of 5 years, practically and emotionally.
Our Approach
Every family is special and we respond to each family’s needs through a combination of home-visiting support, group work and social events.
Partnerships
Partnerships are very important to us and we work closely with both local statutory and voluntary agencies in order to provide the best possible support to families. We partner with:
- Health visiting teams
- Children and Family Centres
- Women’s Aid
- Social and Caring Teams
- Time to Talk
- Twins and Multiple Births Association
- West Sussex County Council
- Worthing Borough Council
- Adur District Council
We support the five key outcomes for children and young people outlined in ‘Every Child Matters: Change for Children’ and have contributed into the Children and Young People’s Plan 2010 – 2015 and ‘Waves Ahead’ Adur and Worthing Sustainable and Community Strategy 2010-2026. Our scheme manager represents the voluntary sector on the West Sussex Children’s Trust.
