Some families who feel isolated at home, prefer group support and enjoy the chance to meet and make new friends with other parents who live nearby. Home-Start Family Groups provide a regular meeting place for families with at least one child under 5.
Family Groups are held once a week and last for 2 hours. They are informal, friendly and welcoming. The group is led by a qualified and experienced Home-Start Family Group Worker with support from a playworker and trained volunteers. As well as a time for parents to sit and relax with friends, various speakers come to talk to the group about issues such as : healthy eating, oral hygiene, the importance of play, first aid, safety in the home and debt management. Our Playworker organises craft activities and play for the children with a healthy snack. Coffee, tea and drinks are provided for parents. Everything is free.
